Arcangelo

2008 Salento 100% Negroamaro

Palama Arcangelo is a captivating red wine hailing from the vibrant Salento region, known for its rich traditions of winemaking. Crafted entirely from the Negroamaro varietal, this 2008 vintage exhibits a medium body that perfectly balances elegance and intensity. The wine's high acidity brings forth a lively freshness, making each sip invigorating and mouthwatering. On the palate, delightful notes of dark fruit like plum and black cherry intertwine with subtle hints of spice, creating an enticing and complex flavor profile. The tannins are firm yet approachable, providing structure without overpowering the wine's fruit characteristics. As a dry wine, Palama Arcangelo invites food pairings, enhancing its versatility and charm, making it a wonderful choice for dinner gatherings or a cozy evening at home.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
